Asus ZenBook UX303U Review

The ZenBook series is famous for its abstruse conventions than most, covering a multitude of models both in huge and mild ways beneath their similar shells and identikit names. The UX models are even more bewildering. Asus ZenBook UX303U is a more premium product with more power packed into a thicker frame. It features a better quality screen than the previous version and new Intel processors. It also shares the thinner machine’s entirely predictable design, a quality build at a substantially lower price than less powerful, equally shiny bigger name ultrabooks.

Asus ZenBook UX303U – Specifications and Display:

The UX303U features ZenBook’s latest processor, a Core i7-6500U from Intel’s new Skylake collection. It has a reasonable sized 256GB SATA SSD, which is sufficient for anything except video and photo editing and perhaps gaming. It also has a magnanimous 12GB of DDR3.The SSD can be changed for a larger HDD or hybrid drive, and an extra RAM will smooth out most of the operation.

The fast CPU, a large dollop of memory and a fast flash drive mean that this notebook will most definitely deliver impressive real-world performance. A Geekbench test revealed that the laptop has a score of 3270 points for single-core and 6912 multi-core. PCMark 8 Home scored the UX303U at an impressive 2765 points rising to a remarkable 3448 points using GPU acceleration.

The Asus ZenBook UX303U has a new graphics chips baked in, Intel HD graphic, with a 100MHz time advantage over a former ‘6000’ graphics in a previous generation. This enables a positive gaming in its 3200 * 1800 IPS QHD screen. There is also a 1366 * 768 display at a lower price.

Its display is a full-HD IPS-like panel with an anti-glare matt finish that is preferable over the typical glossy, reflective screen. It provides decent off-axis viewing- the color does not change as you tilt the screen. It also has a near-full (97%) sRGB coverage and 680:1 contrast ration The notebook has a nice array of full-size ports compared to the UX305’s that has a slightly smaller selection of mini ports.

The battery life score is good and healthy. An Ultrabook battery, which lasts for six and a half hours, is considered okay. The keyboard is not backlit but fully serviceable. The trackpad is a large buttonless multi-touch making it more precise and usable.

Asus ZenBook UX303U – Brushed Aluminium Design:

The Asus ZenBook UX303U has maintained a similar look to the MacBook Air though now it is slimmer, tapering to just 3mm at the front. It has clean lines, a curved edge, a circular surface engraving, and a gentle tone that gives it a pleasant look.

It is covered with an all-metal casing made out of pure aluminum for both the lightness and looks. The aluminum provides the laptop with good core strength. The notebook comes in three pleasant colors as far as metallic pastel shades go. They are icicle gold, smoky brown and rose gold.

Asus ZenBook UX303U weight is 3.19 pounds, making it just pleasant enough to carry with the hand. The weight is close to MacBook Air standards (2.97 pounds for the 13-inch model) but heavier than UX305 that is at 2.60 pounds and 12-inch MacBook at 2.02 pounds. It is thicker than both MacBook (5.15 inches) and UX305 (4.8 inches)
